Coloring for Kids: Excellent Exercise for Your Children’s Brain

Did parents know that 90% of a kid’s brain develops before the age of 5? Well, if you just knew about this fact, start giving your kids some useful activities like coloring. Coloring for kids can start from 2-3 years old or when they start to understand colors. Therefore, with this activity, parents can also teach the names of the colors.

Other than learning colors, there are many advantages of coloring sheets. Even though it may not be seen, kids can learn how to coordinate their hands and eyes when they work on the sheet. It also develops their creativity that even parents might not know. If you are still in doubt, here some benefits those kids can get from coloring activities:

1. Coordination Between the Eyes and Hands

The first benefit of this activity is to train the coordination of their eyes and hands. Children would learn how to hold crayons, pencils, and markers properly. At first let them hold it as they like, however, remember to correct it so it would not be a habit. They would also start to recognize and be more detailed about colors around them and apply them.

2. Sharpen and Exercise Writing Skill

Like the previous point before, children will learn how to hold things properly like pencils, markers, and crayons with their hands. This would also sharpen and exercise their writing skill as well in the future. After they learn how to handle things, they would start with coloring and then they would continue with handwriting and drawing skills too.

3. Patience and Relaxation

Coloring for kids can bring them patience and relaxation as well. They will be learning how to take time to finish things, as they complete them. Some of them might rush on finishing others’ sheets even though they have not done the previous one but that is okay. Children can also be more relaxed with being the focus. As a bonus, moms and dads could also rest for a while as they take an eye on them.

4. Increase knowledge

What parents don’t usually recognize from this activity is that kids would increase their knowledge. This is because they would meet new objects such as animals, foods, fruits, vegetables, and more. Give them new pictures of things that they didn’t know before to help them develop their vocab.

5. Develop their creativity

Not only will kids increase their knowledge, but they can also develop their creativity. Let them use any tint or color as they want. For example, if they want to use blue for the grass it is okay. Tell them the actual color of it is real, but don’t ban them because that would limit their growth.

Coloring for Kids

Coloring for kids is a very fun activity to do. It might be basic, but it has many benefits that children need for the process of growing and developing. Remember that it is important for toddlers to learn but it is more significant for them to have fun. In addition, parents should accompany them because it is still dangerous if they eat or put the items into their mouth.
